Dave Forsey, Frasers tycoon Mike Ashley’s former right-hand man, has re-emerged as managing director of Revolution Beauty.

Forsey’s new role puts him in head-to-head competition with his former employer’s daughter, who has her own cosmetics brand, The Times has reported.

When Dave Forsey left Sports Direct, Mike Ashley said he had ‘lost my right arm’

Matilda Ashley’s SportFX brand is sold in her father’s shops, which include House of Fraser department stores.

Forsey worked alongside Ashley for 33 years, rising from Saturday store worker to head the entrepreneur’s Sports Direct empire. However, the pair parted company in 2016 following controversy over alleged working conditions at the retailer’s Shirebrook warehouse.

It is thought that Ashley blamed Forsey for failing to deal with the issues, which led to Ashley’s appearance before MPs. However, Ashley said he had “lost my right arm” when Forsey resigned.

Revolution Beauty was launched in 2013 by Adam Minto and Tom Allsworth who had almost three decades of experience in cosmetics and brand development. Their aim was to make “quality makeup accessible to everyone”.

The business was backed by investor TSG Consumer Partners, which has also backed companies in the same market such as Huda Beauty.
