Four Irish HMV stores to reopen

Four HMV stores, three of which are in Dublin, will reopen by the first week of September. The Dublin stores to reopen are at Henry Street, Liffey Valley and Dundrum Shopping Centre. The store at the Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick will also reopen.

120 new jobs have been filled, with approximately 70 of those going to original HMV employees who lost their jobs when the high street chain went into administration in January, according to the Irish Examiner.

Clarks to launch mobile local shopping tool

Shoe retailer Clarks has selected digital retail platform Udozi to allow consumers to locate their nearest Clarks store. Shoppers can download the Udozi app free from the Apple App Store or through the website.

The service allows users to get information on any item, stock availablity, as well as shop contact details, locations and opening times. Once a customer has located what they want they can pick their chosen item up in-store on the same day.

Irish stores receive compliance notices for overcharging customers

The National Consumer Agency (NCA) has issued 18 supermarkets and convenience stores in Ireland with compliance notices because they charged consumers more than the price indicated. Tesco, Dunnes, Centra, Eurospar and SuperValu were among the retailers who received the compliance notice.

The NCA also issued 28 other retailers including SuperValu, Costcutter, Londis, Tesco, Dunnes, Lidl and Eurospar fixed payment notices over failure to display prices in store,according to the Irish Independent.
