Drinks specialist Majestic Wine has posted fizzy seasonal sales over Christmas.

The retailer generated like-for-like store sales growth of 4% in the nine weeks to January 2, when total store sales, excluding VAT, rose 8.4%.

In the first 40 weeks of the financial year, like-for-like store sales advanced 2.7%.

Majestic chief executive Steve Lewis said he was delighted with the performance.
