Department store group House of Fraser has unveiled its first store in China.
House of Fraser, owned by Chinese company Sanpower, has opened in Nanjing’s international financial centre, which draws 500,000 visitors a day.
The 425,000 sq ft store stocks 300 brands including Ted Baker and Barbour, and firsts for House of Fraser such as Monceau, a restaurant and cafe format.
New brands to the Chinese market have also been introduced, including Cambridge Satchel Company, Radley, as well as a VIP lounge and personal shopping service.
Sanpower Group chairman Yuan Yafei said: “With House of Fraser Nanjing, our aim was to ensure we replicated the store designs and environment present at some of the brand’s most unique stores including Jenners in Edinburgh, Jollys in Bath and Frasers in Glasgow and provide customers with a unique premium shopping experience with a strong sense of British tradition.
”We are very proud of the store: its unique design, premium offering, and prime location clearly emphasise our strategy for House of Fraser to become a leading global brand.”
The retailer has drawn upon its UK heritage for the store design. Famous features such as the glass roof at the retailer’s Fraser’s branch in Glasgow and the peacock motif from Jolly’s in Bath.
House of Fraser chairman Frank Slevin said: “We are confident that our first store will clearly demonstrate the unique status that House of Fraser can achieve in the market and will be a stand-out platform for our brand partners.”
