Embattled Dutch retailer Ahold has appointed former Ikea boss Anders Moberg as president and chief executive.
Moberg replaces Cees van der Hoeven, who left in February, after a profit overstatement controversy.
Moberg's appointment to the board will be proposed at the retailer's AGM later this year.
Henny de Ruiter, chairman of Ahold's supervisory board, said: 'Anders has spent his entire career working for two of the world's most successful retailers. Strongly focused on customers' needs and product innovation, he is a true internationalist, exceptional in his ability to put retail in a global context.'
After leaving Ikea, where he was chief executive and president, Moberg joined Home Depot in 1999 as division president, international.
