Dutch retailer Ahold has completed a probe into its accounts and uncovered an additional EUR73 million (£50.8 million) in irregularities, which could force it to restate its results. The total accounting irregularities at the retailer now stands at EUR970 million (£675 million).
In the statement, the retailer said: 'Ahold management and the audit committee are studying the findings to assess whether additional adjustments may be required to correct any accounting errors, and to identify improvements in controls at relevant companies.'
Ahold first revealed accounting problems in February when a US$856 million (£516 million) hole at US Foodservice was found.
