Apoteket stills enjoys a "special position" in the market despite deregulation

Former monopoly pharmacy operator Apoteket still enjoys a “special position” in the market despite deregulation, according to a report by The Swedish Competition Authority, the Konkurrensverket.

Konkurrensverket said the government needed to develop a clear, transparent and long-term ownership policy for Apoteket. “There is some ambiguity from the government that we think needs to be straightened out,” said Thomas Ringbom, project manager at the authority.
