Footwear, accessories and homewares supplier Lambert Howarth has gone into administration, resulting in the loss of 72 jobs.

BDO Stoy Hayward has been appointed as joint administrators of the company, which supplies own-label and branded products to retailers including Radley and Pringle footwear.

In May, LambertHowarth issued a profit warning and revealed it needed to generate additional funds to avoid breaching its banking covenants.

This summer it lost its licence for French Connection footwear, which was awarded to Kurt Geiger.

Lambert employs about 150 staff at itsLondonheadquarters, with offices and warehouses atBurnley in Lancashire and overseas.

BDO Stoy Hayward partner David Gilbert said: “The company has suffered difficult trading conditions over recent months, coupled with challenges with the customer base. Our immediate review of the business has, regrettably, led to the decision to make 72 redundancies within the company.”


The administrators added that the business will continue to trade pending a series of meetings with its major customers.
