Alibaba-owned fashion and lifestyle online marketplace AliExpress has made its livestream shopping debut in the UK. Livestream shopping is predicted to account for up to 20% of all UK ecommerce sales by 2026.
In a new partnership with Vogue Business, AliExpress has brought its livestream technology to consumers in the UK in a bid to “elevate” shopping experiences.
According to Alibaba, livestream shopping is “one of the most effective ways of engaging with consumers directly” and is predicted to account up to 20% of all ecommerce sales in the UK by 2026.
The UK launch is set to help customers make smarter shopping choices by offering more curated choices and bringing them “closer to the products”.
The group said livestreaming is a new way for influencers to build on their personal brand. Former Love Island star Olivia Attwood has been named as the platform’s first ambassador in the UK as part of its ‘It Girls’ influencer campaign.
Attwood (pictured, above left) said: “Livestream shopping is well-established in some countries around the world, but still relatively new here in the UK. I am thrilled to bring this innovative and fun shopping experience and its benefits to the UK.
“We cannot wait to see what the next couple of months brings, and we encourage everyone to join in, whether you are someone who loves shopping for fashion or an influencer keen to join our community of It Girls.”
AliExpress is also expected to offer exclusive discounts and launch more than 20,000 women’s fashion drops for UK consumers in addition to the six million products already available on the platform.
AliExpress offers both free delivery and free returns.
