Marks & Spencer has lost two members of its womenswear team amid an overhaul of key categories to quell declining sales.
Sara Bradley, who was in charge of buying for in-house brands, has exited the retailer, and Mary Wastnage, head of buying for M&S Woman, will leave this autumn, according to the FT.
Bradley, who joined from Sainsbury’s, where she was head of clothing, in March 2011 was one of chief executive Marc Bolland’s first high-profile hires after he vowed to transform M&S’s in-house labels into “real brands”.
He wooed her from the role she was due to take up at Asda.
The departures come two weeks after head of lingerie and beauty, Janie Schaffer, the former Victoria’s Secret creative director, exited after less than three months in the role, as revealed by Retail-week.com.
Marks & Spencer is overhauling its womenswear amid falling sales. As part of the changes, its core M&S Man and M&S Woman ranges are to be dropped by the end of the year.
M&S Collections, an umbrella brand containing the core ranges, will be the centrepiece of its new clothing offer. The brand is set to have its own advertising and look and feel in stores. Limited, another in-house brand, is expected to become part of M&S Collections.
