Customers spending £40 or more in one transaction between April 18 and May 1 will be given a voucher at the till for use at its petrol stations. Vouchers can be used until May 8.
The petrol price campaign follows similar moves by Co-op and Sainsbury’s. The former is offering 5p off every litre when customers spend £30, and the latter’s deal for 5p off when customers spend £50 has just ended.
The campaign highlights the difficulty shoppers are having in spending in stores when the price of petrol is so high. Filling the car up is increasingly eating into the weekly shop.
Morrisons marketing director Richard Lancaster said: “We know that over the Easter holidays and the royal wedding, motorists will want to travel further to visit friends and relatives, but will be put off by the cost of petrol. Our offer ensures that our customers can enjoy this time and worry less about the cost.”
