The founder of fashion and lifestyle retailer Oliver Bonas has spoken of being attacked during the London riots as he confronted a group of looters.
Oliver Tress, who lives in Clapham Junction which was hit by riots on Monday August 8, was left with a head wound after he confronted a group of rioters about ransacking local shops.
Tress was punched and hit on the head with a stolen CD rack before the youths attempted to steal his car. He was left bleeding from the head and had to be taken to hospital by police.
He had left his home to check on the two branches of Oliver Bonas on the Northcote Road in Clapham Junction when the incident happened. Tress has since spoken out against the police for failing to take adequate action against the rioters.
“I just can’t fathom what happened,” Tress told the Sunday Telegraph. “My experience was that it [the looting] was known about and nothing was done about it. To me that just seems like the police haven’t done their job.”
