  • This article is has been written badly and is totally inconsistent. Either Amazon's sales (i.e. revenue) have increased to £13.7 billion or their profit has? Which one is it as you state both in your article above which is misleading at best? If it's profits then the amount of direct tax paid is more concerning for the UK government to tackle. If its Revenues (i.e. Sales) then it could well be OK and in the correct ballpark depending on the profit before tax generated on those revenues, especially as it has very little physical store presence to pay Business Rates on property. The media is misleading enough at the moment about many things with its reporting of statistics without jumping on the bandwagon here if there really is no story to write about.
