Electricals giant Dixons’ websites crashed this morning, at first reportedly as a result of traffic volumes for its Sale.
All of Dixons’ sites, including the flagship Currys and PC World sites, displayed the same message, thanking shoppers for visiting and informing them: “Unfortunately the high volume of visitors currently accessing the website for great deals means we have had to take the website offline temporarily.
“We are in the process of resolving this as quickly as possible for our customers, so please do check back later.”
However that was subsequently removed and replaced with a site maintenance message.
Although there was a spike in visitors to the sites because of the Sale, it is now thought that the problem was down to technical issues caused by damage done to fibres during roadworks, rather than traffic to the site.
