Book chain Ottakar's expects to have 100 stores by the autumn, according to managing director James Heneage.
Ottakar's said its market share stands at 5 to 6 per cent, while Waterstone's and WHSmith have about 15 per cent each. Of its 93 existing stores, nearly a third have a coffee shop.
Profits before tax at Ottakar's were up 28 per cent to£5.1 million on turnover up by 17 per cent to£114.8 million for the 53 weeks ended February 1.
