Amazon’s worldwide consumer chief executive Dave Clark is leaving the business after 23 years.
During his tenure, Clark oversaw the build of Amazon’s vast logistics network of warehouses, delivery trucks, planes and cargo ships leading to its domination of the fast-delivery offer.
Clark said in a tweet that he was seeking a new challenge.
He said: “I’ve had an incredible time at Amazon but it’s time for me to build again. It’s what drives me.”
Clark’s departure will be effective from July 1 and comes as the ecommerce giant faces macroeconomic issues.
Amazon reported slowing growth in its most recent quarter and has been under strain from a growing number of warehouse worker actions.
In a note to staff when his resignation was announced, Clark said: “We have a great leadership team across the consumer business that is ready to take on more as the company evolves past the customer experience challenges we took on during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We also have a solid multi-year plan to fight the inflationary challenges we are facing in 2022.”
