Ger Wright will remain on the Frasers Group board as a non-executive director

The Sports Direct owner announced that Wright will leave her role at the retail giant on November 30.

Wright is expected to remain on Frasers Group’s board as a non-executive director after her departure.

She leaves the business after almost two-and-a-half years, after joining Frasers Group in June 2022.

Frasers Group said she made a “significant contribution” towards the execution of the group’s elevation strategy during her time as managing director.

The company said in a statement: “The group’s sport proposition has evolved during her tenure with the introduction of our running and outdoor concepts, the onboarding of new brands, and international expansion into new markets.

“Ger leaves behind a talented and ambitious team who will continue to evolve and drive the elevation strategy in sport.”

Frasers Group chief executive Michael Murray said: “Ger has been an exceptional leader for Frasers Group and we are grateful for her contribution.

“We look forward to continuing to benefit from Ger’s sector expertise as a non-executive director as we further accelerate the group’s ambitions in sport.”

Wright previously worked at Nike for 15 years and told Retail Week earlier this year that sport has been “a common thread” in her career.
