Sainsbury’s Argos has poached Mothercare executive Gary Kibble to take on the role of marketing director.
Kibble, who spent almost two years at Mothercare as its global brand and marketing director, will join the business “in the next few months”.
He will report to Sainsbury’s Argos chief digital and marketing officer Bertrand Bodson, and join the Sainsbury’s Argos management board.
Kibble began his career at WH Smith in 1994, joining the stationery specialist as a graduate trainee and working his way up the ladder to become business director for books.
After 10 years with the business, Kibble moved to Shop Direct as group brand director and became business transformation director in January 2014.
Kibble was responsible for launching Very.co.uk and rebranding Littlewoods Direct, drafting in Trinny and Susannah and Myleene Klass as brand ambassadors for the latter to help drive sales and brand awareness.
Kibble said: “Argos has undergone significant digital transformation in the last three years, including the market-leading FastTrack delivery proposition.
“This, combined with the recent Sainsbury’s acquisition, makes it an exciting time to join the business.”
Bodson described Kibble as “a first-class marketing professional whose strong digital and business transformation experience will be a great asset to us as we grow the business and integrate with Sainsbury’s.”
