Value chain QD Stores has remodelled its Aylesbury shop in Buckinghamshire and will roll out the design to all new stores.

The new-look store has a wider selection of clothing and fashion accessories, a new home living area with more lines and new room displays. Its food area, selling basic non-perishables such as coffee, tea and sugar, has also been revamped.

The retailer has opened four shops this year, buoyed by shoppers seeking out bargains in the recession. It will open its 22nd store next month.

The retailer has teamed up with the Famous Footwear brand to open a concession in the Aylesbury store. The shoes department sells brands at up to 50 per cent off the normal retail price and will be rolled out to more stores this year. QD has just launched its Back to School range, offering a school uniform for £3.48, which includes a polo shirt, sweatshirt and trousers.

All products are now sold within dedicated areas, such as in pets and gardening departments.

Aylesbury store manager Craig Martin said the changes will make a “significant difference” to customers’ shopping experience. The “big improvement” to the layout will make shopping with trolleys and buggies easier, he added.

QD Stores’ shops are primarily located throughout the East of England and the Home Counties.
