The real answer is to be able to test and introduce relevant product at a pace that renders trad seasonal planning unnecessary except for continuity/basics/some core. That does not mean no financial merchandise planning - simply ability to react and respond to demand drivers - styles, colours, fabrics, patterns, rain, shine etc at a pace that better reflects customer demand patterns. ie the latest techniques in fast fashion and quick response. Of course you need suitable supply chain partners together with a mind and skill set in B&M that can deliver. We really do need to move to agile, flexible planning and buying.
