There is a delay to the launch of Apple Pay in Europe - or at least with European credit cards - but I don't think it's a data issue. Apple have stated openly that they won't be collecting any.

More likely, European banks are baulking at Apple's commercial terms.

US card issuers are rumoured to be paying 0.15% on each transaction initiated through Apple Pay. Interchange fees are much lower this side of the Atlantic (and will fall again next year following EU action) so margins simply aren't big enough to give Apple the slice it believes it deserves.

These negotations could take a while.
