It was Sir Stuart Hampson's night at the Retail Week Awards yesterday, as he scooped two of the top prizes of the evening. Hampson's unrivalled record in retail and 14 years at the helm of John Lewis was acknowledged as he was presented with the Retail Week Award for Outstanding Contribution to Retail. The John Lewis Partnership was named retailer of the year.

Hampson is due to step down as chief executive of John Lewis at the end of the month.
