Mature womenswear group Jacques Vert is eyeing the US and Far East as it prepares for its American launch of Planet London this summer.
Planet London will launch online on August 1 at US department store Lord and Taylor. Jacques Vert said there were no plans to open concessions at Lord and Taylor at present but it will “continue to speak to them about opportunities in their stores.”
The new premium collection will focus on outerwear with prices starting at $398.
Jacques Vert Group chief executive Teresa Tideman said that upmarket British brands have been well received in the US, where the outerwear market is worth $6bn.
She said: “We felt that as an established British outerwear brand with rich heritage we could offer the US market a premium product at a competitive price point. Planet London is a stylish outerwear brand that is inspired by elegant British style and created exclusively in the UK.”
Jacques Vert already has a burgeoning business in Canada where its brands are sold in 49 Hudson Bay department stores as well as online on thebay.com.
Tideman said that Jacquess Vert was also exploring the potential for its brands to expand in the Middle East and Far East and it was currently assessing which markets had a strong need for outerwear and occasionwear.
“Ultimately we are looking to build strategic partnerships for our brands in appropriate markets,” said Tideman.
