Online grocer Ocado has launched its first click-and-collect offer at The Galleria shopping centre in Hatfield.
Until now Ocado had been trialling lockers at its head office only, and was looking for external locations to expand the service, as revealed by Retail Week in June.
Now, Ocado has teamed up with the Land Securitiesowned shopping centre, where, starting this week, for six months customers can pick up online orders from the car park.
It is the online grocer’s first consumer-facing physical offer as it aims to grow its multichannel reach.
It follows a six-month pilot enabling tenants to use the service at the shopping centre.
Pure-plays including Asos are running similar trials at their own head offices, while Amazon has launched its own lockers across shopping centres and in retailers including The Co-op.
