The Range is eyeing shopping centre and high street locations as it steps up efforts to diversify its store portfolio.
The retailer, which is traditionally located in out-of-town retail parks, has begun adding town centre and high street stores to its 130-strong portfolio.
Earlier this month, it agreed a 10-year lease on a 46,000 sq ft former BHS site at the Kingfisher Centre on Redditch high street, which is due to open this Easter.
It also opened a city centre store in Tunbridge Wells at the end of last year, and a 50,000 sq ft store inside a Shopping Centre in Runcorn.
Redditch is not the first BHS store the retailer has occupied. It jumped into a spot left by the collapsed department store chain in Surrey Quays.
The Range’s move comes as a host of traditionally out-of-town retailers, such as Ikea, B&Q and Topps Tiles, shift into high streets and shopping centres and increase their convenience credentials.
The cut price retailers’ founder and owner Chris Dawson made it into Retail Week’s list of the industry’s wealthiest 100 retailers for the first time last year.
