Brighton’s Churchill Square shopping centre will trial a two-hour store to door delivery service from this week.
The shopping centre’s owner Standard Life Investments has teamed up with same-day delivery firm CitySprint to offer the UK’s first two-hour time slot from a shopping centre.
The service launches on Thursday and will run for two weeks during the centre’s busiest periods from Thursdays to Sundays.
It is expected that the service will enable customers to shop and book a delivery, so they don’t need to carry heavy bags around while running other errands or visiting the beach.
Standard Life head of UK retail Ed Jenkins said: “The nature of retailing is changing which is why we’re constantly looking for new ideas to improve the experience of shoppers across our portfolio of centres.
“Our latest initiative is a simple yet effective service that allows customers to combine the experience of visiting Churchill Square with the convenience usually associated with online shopping, helping to drive retailer sales across the centre.”
Churchill Square has been innovating across its retail offer and last month launched an augmented reality fashion show. The technology meant customers could scan logos placed around Brighton and watch the shows - which feature products from the centre’s retailers - on their mobile devices.
