Tesco mulls Ahold bid

Tesco may swoop on the assets of ailing Dutch supermarket giant Ahold.

A committee of execs is working on a proposal believed to be worth£10 billion. A bid would almost certainly put Tesco out of the Safeway race. (Independent on Sunday).
