Sixties artist Alan Aldridge, famous for his album cover work for bands, including The Beatles, The Who and the Rolling Stones, has worked with Virgin Megastores on its latest in-store marketing campaign.
The music retailer is using the campaign to promote albums from acts appearing at the big music festivals this summer and to flag up its Internet download service.
A spokesman for Virgin said: 'It's a great honour to work with someone of Alan's calibre to inject real credibility into our festival campaign. More than 1.5 million music lovers will attend the summer music festivals and our creative is specifically designed to drive them in store.'
The campaign will run in Virgin's 167 stores, the national press and festival programmes.
Aldridge was design consultant to the Apple record label, which was home to The Beatles in the 1960s. In the 1970s, he worked with the Rolling Stones and The Who. He also starred in the documentary film Tonite Let's All Make Love in London, alongside the Stone's Mick Jagger.
