Westfield has said it has made “excellent progress” at its Stratford shopping centre, with a raft of signings including Primark, Topshop and H&M.
The developer said Stratford is now 60% leased or committed, with other big names including Next, River Island, Monsoon, WHSmith and Boots having signed.
Westfield also confirmed Forever 21’s signing to the development, revealed by Retail Week in December.
Stratford is anchored by John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, Waitrose.
In an update to the Australian market, the landlord also revealed that Westfield London has “outperformed both the UK and Central London for the first quarter of 2010”, with like-for-likes up 16.5% and total retail sales up 24.1%.
It added that the centre remains 99% let and footfall for the quarter increased 12.8% on last year.
Westfield UK & European managing director Michael Gutman said: “With stores trading so strongly at Westfield London and the striking quality of the space being constructed at Westfield Stratford City, the larger format component, which is roughly 30% of the scheme’s area, is now virtually fully committed. With the anchors and larger format stores now largely in place, leasing focus is now on the specialty stores where demand has also been strong.”
Delivery of the project remains “on program” for completion for the second half of 2011and remains “in line with budget”, with costs expected to add up to £1.45bn.
