The basement, which had been closed since the middle of May after musical instrument concessionaire Sound Control went into administration, has been filled with an enhanced t-shirt and music books offer.
It also features an expanded vinyl records range and updated live performance stage.
Zavvi, which was rebranded from Virgin Megastores in September, decided earlier this year to broaden its product offer in an attempt to create an identity as a specialist in entertainment and not just music. The basement overhaul follows a trial of the music books category and t-shirt zones in 19 stores, which began at the beginning of this year.
Meanwhile, Zavvi is giving its Piccadilly store a facelift and the building is under wraps while the stonework is cleaned. The store layout is being reconfigured and large parts of the floor have been cleared of stock.
A Zavvi spokesman said: “The store is being re-laid following some feedback about what our customers expect in our stores. About 50 shops are being done in preparation for our peak trading at the start of the fourth quarter.”
