Crest Nicholson has submitted a planning application for a£100 million mixed-use development at Camberley in Surrey.
The 241,000 sq ft (22,390 sq m) proposal for a 7 acre (2.8 ha) site to the west of Park Street includes new retail, leisure and residential space, as well as a package of major infrastructure improvements.
The scheme will feature 120,000 sq ft (11,150 sq m) of retail units, which will face onto the regenerated Park Street connecting with Main Square Shopping Centre and the rest of the town centre.
A 128,000 sq ft (11,890 sq m) leisure box will include a nine-screen cinema, 20-lane bowling alley, health and fitness unit, restaurants, cafes and a climbing wall, all accessed from a three-storey glazed atrium at the heart of the scheme. It will also include 163 private apartments.
Crest Nicholson was selected by Surrey Heath Borough Council as its preferred developer in June 2002, beating off competition from 18 other bidders.
Crest Nicholson director Ian White said: 'The scheme creates a new quarter of the town that addresses demand for more family-oriented leisure facilities and larger retail units.
'It will maintain Camberley's position in the regional hierarchy in the face of developments elsewhere in the county. We are already in discussions with a number of retailers and leisure operators that have requirements for the town.'
The development was designed by DLG Architects. Colliers CRE is advising Crest Nicholson.
