Asda has introduced same-day delivery at 250 of its click-and-collect points after a trial on the London Underground.
The service is available for customers who order products online before 1pm. Of the 250 collection points, 120 are ‘drive through’ units at which shoppers can receive goods directly in their cars. Asda has 300 click and collect points in total.
Last year Asda unveiled a five year plan to significantly expand its click-and-collect service, identifying transport hubs as key strategic targets for the channel. In November it began trialling the same-day service on the London Underground at six sites on the network.
Asda e-Commerce development director Saeed Anslow said: “The launch of our same day Click and Collect service makes shopping with us easier than ever– meaning Asda customers can fit their shopping in between work, chauffeuring the kids around and the hundreds of other jobs they need to get done in a day”.
Asda launched its click-and-collect service in 2011, since when the channel has grown steadily. It now accounts for 10% of all sales at the grocer.
