The blaze at the home delivery warehouse, which stores kitchen worktops, fittings and appliances, has disrupted the Kingfisher-owned chain's customer order fulfilment. Deliveries are likely to take four weeks longer than the usual six weeks for kitchen goods.
Flames more than 100 ft high engulfed the depot as about 60 firefighters fought to contain the fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The depot was still burning as Retail Week went to press.
Staffordshire fire rescue service area commander Neil Backes said: 'Because of the nature of goods stored in there, the fire spread extremely rapidly. We managed to contain the fire, but the building and all stock is a complete loss.'
B&Q is contacting all customers whose orders have been affected by the fire to give them a revised delivery date.
Kingfisher will unveil fourth-quarter results next Thursday.
