Carpetright executive director John Kitching will leave the retailer’s board to focus on his role as managing director of sister brand Storey Carpets.

Kitching will leave the board of the UK’s largest flooring retailer at the end of this financial year on May 2, 2009.

He will remain at Carpetright to “concentrate on his role” at  Storey Carpets, which was acquired by Carpetright in May last year. 

Storeys Carpets operates 37 stores in the Northeast of England.

Carpetright chairman and chief executive Lord Harris said: “John has made a huge contribution to the group’s development over the last 20 years, in particular, in stablishing and building up Carpetright’s successful continental European business and we thank him for his many years of valuable board service. We are pleased that Storeys will have the benefit of his extensive experience and look forward to his continuing contribution to the group.”
