The chain's turnover in the 53 weeks to April 2 leaped 27 per cent and profit before tax climbed by more than a third in the same period. Turnover and pre-tax profit reached£2.35 billion and£102.1 million respectively.
Much of the increase came from the retailer's increasingly popular TalkTalk fixed-line service, which now has 920,000 customers. Retail like-for-like revenue increased by 8.8 per cent and like-for-like gross margins improved by 5 per cent.
Carphone Warehouse chief executive Charles Dunstone (pictured) believes that the retailer's success was down to a formula of creating a varied portfolio of businesses. He added: 'The combination of our people, stores and scale differentiates us from our competitors.'
