Matalan is understood to be bringing Fiona Lambert on board on a consultancy basis, Retail Week can reveal.
Lambert left her most recent role as managing director of Jaeger by Marks & Spencer in January this year, two years after she was drafted in to lead its revival.
She was previously brand director and vice-president of George at Asda, as well as managing director of business development at River Island.
Retail Week understands that conversations are ongoing and the partnership with Lambert is expected to be on a short-term basis.
No comment was available from Lambert.
This follows Matalan’s recent string of appointments including chief executive Jo Whitfield who worked alongside Lambert during her time at Asda.
Matalan also recently named Karl-Heinz Holland as chair and Ali Jones as chief customer and omnichannel officer.
