Frasers Group has named the former boss of the Financial Reporting Council as its newest non-executive director.
Frasers Group has named former chief executive of the Financial Reporting Council Sir Jon Thompson as its new non-executive director to the board.
Frasers said in a statement published on the London Stock Exchange that Thompson brings expertise in corporate governance, reporting and audit and experience in large-scale project management to the board.
During his career, Thompson has held several senior roles including being chair of High Speed 2 rail network and the chief executive at HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
He was previously the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Defence where he “oversaw major projects” and drove “significant change programmes” and has also held several corporate services and finance roles in both the public and private sectors.
The group added that his background will “strengthen the execution of Frasers’ long-term growth strategy”, as well as continuing to position it as a “leading international business”.
In a statement, Frasers said: “This latest appointment reaffirms the group’s commitment to elevating its board and its confidence in its long-term growth strategy.”
Frasers Group chair David Daly said: “We are delighted to welcome Sir Jon to the Board. I know that we will benefit from his vast experience and leadership which will continue to enable the future success of the elevation strategy.”
