The retailer said it would be working on its ‘Sell Your Soles’ partnership with textile recycling firm Recyclatex, whereby customers can “recycle their unwanted shoes, no matter where they are from, as long as they are in a wearable condition” and receive a £5 voucher per pair redeemable against full-priced items.

Recyclatex will collect the donations every week with “98% of all components and materials being recycled”. Per tonne of recycled material, the business will then pay Schuh, which will donate the sum to the retailer’s sustainable charity World Land Trust.

The scheme will roll out across all of Schuh’s 130 stores in the UK and Ireland as “part of the brand’s ongoing commitment to operate sustainably”.
