Trouva, the online marketplace for independent brands, has been bought by Cambridge-based digital personal shopping platform Re:store for an undisclosed sum.
Trouva was bought by Made.com in May 2022 before the online homeware retailer collapsed at the end of the year and was bought by Next.
At the time of purchase, Made chief executive Nicola Thompson praised Trouva’s “experienced and talented team” and “sector-leading technology platform”.
The deal, which Re:store claims will “help bridge the gap between online and offline for independent retailers”, will see Re:store integrate its online personal shopping functionality across the Trouva marketplace of more than 650 independent fashion, homeware and Iifestyle brands.
Re:store co-founder and chief executive Jon Reynolds said: “We’re excited by the opportunity to acquire Trouva and introduce our social commerce technology to Trouva’s fantastic boutiques and brands.
“We believe the future lies in enabling deeper connection and community online with authentic and passionate sellers, like those on the Trouva marketplace. We look forward to working with the Trouva team on delivering this shared vision and providing a fresh experience for independent retailers and their customers.”
Trouva is based in London and has been established since 2015, delivering to customers in 38 countries in 2022.
Trouva chief operating officer Dimple Patel said: “This new phase for Trouva is an exciting one for both the team and our independent community. After what has been a turbulent trading year for all retailers, we’re thrilled to have Re:store on board to help Trouva continue to push the boundaries of technology and retail.
“Our unwavering mission to make independent shopping accessible to all will continue as we strengthen our proposition and experience for both our community and our customers.”
