Go Outdoors has doubled annual profits and recorded “significant growth” in home deliveries and in-store collections of online orders.
Pre-tax profits jumped from £1.5m to £3.1m for the year ending January 25, while sales rose 5.4% to £181.4m.
EBITDA before exceptional items jumped 14.2% to £11.6m during the period, representing the third consecutive year the retailer has delivered year-on-year growth in earnings.
The business now has 53 stores nationwide after opening five superstores in the past financial year in Lincoln, Taunton, Canterbury, Derby and Peterborough.
Premium sales
Go Outdoors chief executive Chris Matthew said the retailer “is well placed to grow and develop from the strong performance of the last year”.
He added: “In the last year we have seen growth in the sales of premium tents and accessories as customers invested in high-quality camping products that will allow their families to go camping in comfort for years to come.”
In a filing on Companies House, the retailer stated that it has “invested in new multichannel and own-label logistics partners to improve its supply chain, enable better on-shelf availability and develop more sophisticated delivery options.”
The retailer has also reviewed staffing structures in all its stores to give employees more time in front of customers and develop an “enhanced customer service experience”.
The Sheffield-based retailer was founded in 1998 and employs around 2,000 people.
