Home, stationery and gifting retailer Kenji has appointed former Clintons and Jack Wills bosses to its senior leadership team as it looks to expand its retail footprint in the UK.
Kenji has appointed former Clintons chief executive Eddie Shepherd as managing director and former Jack Wills chief executive Suzanne Harlow as chair of its new advisory board.
The retailer, which specialises in “Asian-influenced, innovative homeware, gifts and more”, said the strategic hires underline the business’ commitment to the UK as it plans to double its bricks-and-mortar offering in the country in 2025.
Kenji has 10 stores in the UK and recently opened a 6,000 sq ft flagship in Manchester’s Trafford Centre.
Shepherd, who joined the retailer in August, has over 20 years of retail experience including being chief executive of Clintons and Watermark Publishing.
Harlow joins to lead the company’s new advisory board. She previously led product and brand strategy at Debenhams and was chief executive at Jack Wills.
Kenji is set to open a flagship at Westfield London and open at least 10 new stores in the UK, taking the total number to 21 by 2025.
Shepherd said: “Kenji’s commitment to innovation and customer excellence aligns perfectly with my values, and I look forward to contributing to the company’s growth journey. Together, we will build on the strong foundation already in place and drive the business forward, all while supporting high streets across the UK.”
Harlow added: ”I’m excited to be working with the Kenji team as it looks to accelerate its plans over the next few years. With Kenji’s innovative spirit and strong market position, I see tremendous opportunity for growth both within the UK and international markets.”
