Discount variety retailer TK Maxx has relaunched its online business more than two weeks after it stopped taking orders having made “significant changes” to operate safely.
TK Maxx said it was “delighted to be taking new orders again” online, but stressed it was focused on “three key areas” to safeguard staff safety by providing personal protective equipment, implementing social distancing and enhanced cleaning and sanitisation of its facilities and equipment.
The retailer said it had also adopted contactless deliveries to protect drivers and customers in conjunction with partner Hermes.
It has placed daily order limits on customers, as the safety measures in place mean its warehouses are operating with reduced staff and capacity.
It also warned customers that delivery lead-times could be extended as a result and updated its returns policy.
The announcement from TK Maxx follows a host of other multichannel businesses, which have begun ramping up their ecommerce offerings after a period of closure.
Next resumed selling online on April 14 three weeks after temporarily closing its ecommerce arm and has been operating with similarly limited capacities. Footwear specialist Schuh has also resumed selling online after implementing new safety measures in its distribution centres.
TK Maxx made the decision to close its store estate on March 19, a week ahead of the government shutdown of all ‘non-essential’ stores designed to curb the spread of coronavirus.
