Asda has stepped up the fight for festive online spend with a new three month delivery pass across food and non-food.
The new deal, which launched today, aims to target shoppers saving for Christmas with the £15 pass that Asda claims is half the price of its competitors delivery.
The pass allows shoppers to receive up to one order a day for three months at a flat fee. Its price will rise to £24 from November.
The new delivery deal follows Asda’s one month grocery pass, which sold at a rate of one every 10 seconds in the first week of launch at the end of August.
Asda digital marketing director Glyn Williams said: “We know this year is all about mums planning and budgeting for Christmas more than ever before, and we’re committed to supporting them keep costs down through initiatives like the £15 delivery pass.
“Last year was our biggest multichannel Christmas ever, with 10 million people visiting Asda.com per week through December. This Christmas is set to be even bigger, and will see 75% of Asda customers shop multichannel. The delivery pass is the latest way we’re holding down the cost of Christmas and delivering in store prices direct to the front door.”
Asda is fighting hard to win shoppers in the rapidly growing online retail sector. Rivals Tesco and Ocado are also offering delivery passes but Asda claims to have the best value offer.
Ocado has today kicked off a £25 Living Social deal for its own Annual Midweek Smart Pass, normally priced at £70.
