New data shows the big UK grocers have struggled with availability issues since Brexit.
Prime minister Boris Johnson heralded his last-minute Brexit deal as allowing “frictionless” trade and said it would ensure that goods could be sold “without tariffs and without quotas” between the UK and the EU.
However, as one grocery chief executive says, the deal “is neither barrier-free nor frictionless”, calling it “the biggest implementation of red tape in our business that we’ve ever seen”.
