Waitrose has launched self-serve check-in points for click-and-collect shoppers in 140 of its stores for Black Friday.
The upmarket grocer will roll out the technology this week after a successful trial.
Shoppers visiting the supermarket to pick up click-and-collect orders will be able to register their order numbers via in-store iPads located at the branches in-store welcome desks.
Waitrose will also give all click-and-collect shoppers a barcode with their order confirmation for in-store staff to scan to pick up a purchase, which will be available in all of its stores.
Service experience development manager Glenn Cox said: “70% of John Lewis click-and-collect orders are now being picked up in Waitrose branches, so it’s hugely popular with our customers and that is likely to increase during Black Friday and the festive period.
“Checking in to collect an order is the first thing many shoppers do when they visit our stores and can set the tone for the rest of their experience with us, so introducing the option of a self check-in system will ensure they enjoy the best possible start to their shop.”
