Vision Express has further strengthened its foothold on the eyewear sector by acquiring Conlons Opticians for an undisclosed amount.
As part of the deal, Vision Express has bought Conlons’ network of 19 stores situated in the north west of England and Scotland. It will rebrand 11 of the stores to Vision Express and close the remaining eight.
Vision Express said it is committed to keep on Conlons staff “wherever possible”.
The deal brings the total number of Vision Express outlets in the UK and Ireland to 389 by the end of 2014.
Vision Express chief executive Jonathan Lawson said: “I am delighted that we have been able to take this opportunity to expand the reach of the Vision Express brand and we look forward to welcoming our new customers and colleagues.”
During the past year Vision Express, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, acquired stores from the Crown Eyeglass and Rayner & Keeler practices.
