Convenience store operator Seven & I plans to add 630 new 7-Eleven stores in the US and Canada by the end of the year. The retailer has built and acquired a total of 600 stores in the US and Canada in 2011 and 56% of its US growth has been fuelled by acquisitions in New York, Florida, Illinois, Colorado and the northwest. Seven & I president and chief executive for the US Joe DePinto said: “7-Eleven’s US growth strategy includes building greater market presence and adding quality locations in metropolitan areas where the company already has stores as a means to increase efficiencies and leverage the company’s scale and daily-delivery infrastructure.”
