In the financial year to date - the 43 weeks to January 29 - total sales orders are up 29.9 per cent and like-for-like sales orders are up 6 per cent.
Store openings planned at Watford, Colliers Wood, Orpington and Romford, plus the relocation of the Croydon store, have been completed, bringing the store count to 72. Another five store openings are anticipated in April and May.
Having terminated 30 Homestyle concessions in its stores, Land of Leather has concluded a long-term agreement with The Sleep Depot to open bed concessions at the 30 shops and to open a further 15 concessions over the next six months. The Sleep Depot was established by former directors of Benson Beds.
At the end of its financial year on April 2, Land of Leather is to change its accounting reference date to July 31 to move it away from its peak sales order period. It is also to help reduce the risk of disruptions to deliveries or Far East supplies that occur late in the financial year and can impact on financial results.
The change will be achieved by reporting on a shortened four-month period ending July 30.
On trading, chief executive Paul Briant said: 'I am delighted that our development efforts in the areas of product range and marketing have resulted in a solid sales performance in a more challenging trading environment.'
