Furniture retailer MFI will be revived as a pureplay etailer tomorrow (Wednesday) and has recruited a former MFI director to run the business.
MFI collapsed into administration in 2008, but is now being reborn as an online retailer after plumbing group Walker Capital bought the rights to the brand last year, as first revealed by Retail Week.
The MFI team is headed by commercial director Adrian Storr, a former MFI director who worked for nine years at the retailer.
Walker Capital said a “highly experienced management team have been developing the relaunch of the MFI brand for nearly 2 years”.
“The management team have considerable experience in the market including senior roles at MFI under previous ownership during the time when MFI was one of the UKs leading retailers of home interiors.”
It said the online launch follows market research that suggested consumers were happy to purchase home furnishings products online as long as the products are of high quality, they are affordable, and that customer service is first class.
According to Walker Capital, MFI will offer “high quality luxurious and affordable home furnishings”. However, it will not be selling kitchens – a category for which MFI was traditionally known for.
The new business will offer delivery features including stipulating a preferred delivery date when the order is made and tracking the delivery at every stage.
