Luxury fashion brand Burberry has poached an exec from fellow premium retailer Moncler, for a board role as a non-executive director.

Stella King is due to start her role on April 1, 2025 and will step down from her current role as chief Chinese business officer at Moncler on December 31.

King has worked with the luxury brand since 2011 as its president of Asia Pacific, before moving into her role as chief Chinese business officer in 2022.

She was also a non-executive director of Moncler subsidiary Stone Island from March 2021 to April 2024, and previously held managerial positions at designer brands Sergio Rossi and Lane Crawford.

The new hire is particularly important to Burberry as it sees China as a key market, and bringing King to the board with her extensive experience could help.

Burberry also announced two non-executive directors on the board will step down in July 2025. Fabiola Arredondo and Antoine de Saint-Affrique will retire from the board following its annual general meeting next year.

Burberry chair Gerry Murphy said: “Stella has an impressive and deep understanding of the luxury market and consumers in the Asia Pacific region. Her insight and expertise will be a great asset to Burberry and we are delighted that she has accepted our invitation to join the Burberry board.

“On behalf of the board, I want to thank Fabiola and Antoine for their service to the company.  The board has benefited greatly from their extensive knowledge and experience throughout their tenures and I wish them both every success in their future endeavours.”
